Fleming Art Studio

As I was putting together a portfolio of works to upload to the gallery, I stumbled across some of the work I did in middle and high school. I don’t know why (I do, however, have a few theories), but after high school I all but stopped creating art. Until a few years ago, that is, when, out of the blue, I got the urge to pick up a pencil again. Very quickly thereafter, I was curious to try painting and the rest, as they say, is history.

I cannot imagine what life was like without a creative outlet, but I know I don’t want to return there. Today, Fleming Art Studio exists, and, for that, I am thankful.

Meet the Artist

Laurence Fleming is a mostly-self-taught artist working in graphite, charcoal, oil and acrylic paint, the rare watercolor, and (quite frequently lately) digital via Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketchbook. He has done a few commissions and has had paintings hanging at the Jones Gallery in the Arts District of Kansas City, MO.

To counter the banality of corporate culture and the drudgery of data analytics of his regular job, Laurence finds creative expression in his artwork as well as through writing literary fiction (okay, some of it may be genre fiction), designing graphics and marketing materials for his side-gig, normal media group, and frequently tumbling down some random rabbit hole to satiate his thirst for knowledge.

Laurence lives in Overland Park, KS with his daughter and a menagerie of pets.
